How Many Cameras Do You Need for an Interview?

The number of cameras on an interview is not about looking fancy — it is about how the conversation will be edited and how forgiving the shoot needs to be.

One camera

A single camera is clean and simple, but every cut in the edit is visible unless it is hidden with B-roll. It works well when the conversation is scripted or B-roll is plentiful.

Two cameras

A second angle — often a wider or tighter framing — lets an editor cut between shots invisibly, tightening answers without a jump cut. For most professional interviews, two cameras is the standard.
